About Denise D. Price

Paper. I love paper. Handmade or mass-produced, hemp or cotton, recycled or bleached—I love it all.  My fascination began as a teenager when I was invited to attend a summer arts intensive at the Clayton College for Boys during its inaugural year, which welcomed girls for the first time.  That experience lit a creative spark in me that’s never gone out.
With an MBA in International Business and training from some of the world’s leading paper engineers, I combine design precision with entrepreneurial insight to create books and art that are both meaningful and market-savvy.
Much of my work is shaped by global travel--thirty-eight countries across five continents. My artistic voice blends ephemera, storytelling, and movement, echoing the diverse cultures and creative traditions I’ve had the privilege to experience firsthand. Wanderlust has always informed the way I see, create, and connect.
I’m the creator of The Freedom Trail Pop-Up Book, a bestselling tribute to Boston’s 2.5-mile historic trail that invites readers to explore the city through layered, kinetic pages. The book has won 15 awards and continues to delight locals and visitors alike with its blend of heritage and artistry.
Most recently, I’ve launched the Movable Icons series—a collection of interactive children’s biographies featuring cut-and-assemble paper dolls of inspiring figures from history and modern culture. The series bridges storytelling and craft, inviting young readers (and the young at heart) to play, learn, and celebrate legacy through hands-on creativity.
For eight years, I was honored to serve on the board of the Movable Book Society, including a term as Treasurer. This international nonprofit brings together artists, collectors, curators, and publishers to preserve and elevate the art of movable books.
In addition to my published works under my own name, I also write under pen names across several genres, allowing me to explore other creative paths with both freedom and intention.
I live in Somerville, Massachusetts, where I split my days between drawing, writing, crafting, and real estate. I dream often of the mountains where I grew up, and of how to fold, cut, and engineer paper into tiny, transformative worlds that invite wonder and delight.
